1-08.1 Establishing shot of a grassy area next to a portable classroom outside of a high school. Two girls are sitting in the grass across from each other. One is Jane when she was 17 and the other is Nat, a non-ghastly version of the apparition from the stairwell. Nat is holding a camcorder and reviewing some footage she took on it. Jane is wearing a Nirvana shirt while Nat is wearing a shirt for the band Hole.
NAT: I can't believe you actually set those dumb campaign flyers in that guy's yard on fire.
1-08.2 Closer in on the two girls sitting next to each other. Jane is flustered and covering her face with her hand while Nat looks relaxed and teasing.
NAT: I thought you were way too much of a baby to actually do it!
JANE: Nat, stop! Oh my God!
1-08.3 Closeup on Jane pulling her hand away from her face. We get our first good look at her younger self.
JANE: I just get so mad about that crusty old racist living so close to me!
1-08.4 Nat shoves Jane to the ground, playfully but with intent. Jane sort of sprawls unceremoniously backwards.
NAT: Ha!
1-08.5 Jane is now lying on her back as Nat rises to her knees and kneels over her, brandishing her camcorder.
NAT: I just might be able to make a provocateur of you yet, Jane.
